Ciaran Lynch
Ciaran creates modern, thoughtful objects for the home and carefully crafted and hand-built furniture. With organic and clean lines, he lets the materials speak to the design. Each piece he creates depends on the character of the wood, its colour and grain. As a result, all pieces created are one of a kind. His process is free moving and organic, with an element of spontaneity that is usually not found in furniture design. He has one foot in the design and craft world, and one in the art world.
Much of his work draws on Irish heritage practices and forms. Former projects include the making of traditional Irish hedge chairs and a number of benches (e.g. "creepies") and side tables inspired by the raw, place-based furniture of pre-1900s Ireland.
